What do you believe?

As a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I get lots of questions. One of the biggest queries I’ve gotten recently is: do you believe in Jesus Christ? There is a common misconception about the church on this topic. As a representative of Jesus Christ, I want to help clear this up.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the Savior of the World, who suffered for the sins and heartaches of all mankind. We believe that He died for all of us, and I know these things are true. The beautiful and incredible part about Christ and His Atonement is that He rose from the dead and He lives again.Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be forgiven of our sins and we will live again. I believe with my whole heart that Jesus Christ is my Savior! As members of the Church we follow Jesus Christ. He is the center of our faith. We study The Bible and The Book of Mormon to help us to learn more about Him and our Heavenly Father. I know the Book of Mormon is true and testifies of His role as our Savior. I know He is my Lord and my Redeemer. It is through Jesus Christ that we can become stronger and happier. He can help us make it through this life. He is the one we can always count on.

2 Nephi 25:26 “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.”

Serving as the Savior

“There are so many people in need whom we could be thinking about instead of ourselves. And please don’t ever forget your own family, your own wife. There are so many ways we could be serving. We have no time to become absorbed in ourselves.” ~President Uctdorf

Our lives become fuller through serving others, through giving of ourselves. I know this principle is true. Heavenly Father blesses us when we take the time to help another person. My Dad wrote me a letter once, just filling me in on things happening back home.My parents have a special responsibility to coordinate sunday church service at the Veterans home near us. They get to work with some sweet folks and they get to serve them every week. One sunday after church, they had a little luncheon for the vets and one of them couldn’t make it. So my Dad made him a plate of food and brought it to his room. Reading about that just warmed my heart. My parents have taught me how to help others by their examples, by the way they serve one another and by the way they go out of their way to help my siblings and I.
I know that service is a part of living a Christlike life. I am grateful for my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I know He lives and I know that His path is what blesses us with a happy and fulfilling life.

“Indeed, it is easier to “find” ourselves because there is so much more of us to find.” ~President Kimball
